Hannah and Ollie’s Joy-Filled Spring Cambridge Wedding at Holmewood Hall

Hannah & Ollie

If you’re searching for a Holmewood Hall wedding photographer, Hannah and Ollie’s beautiful spring wedding is the perfect example of why this stunning Cambridgeshire venue is such a popular choice for couples. From emotional personal vows and endless confetti to live music and a packed dance floor, their wedding was full of personality, laughter and unforgettable moments. As a Cambridge wedding photographer and videographer, it was a joy to capture both their photographs and highlight film at one of the region’s most beautiful wedding venues.

The Preparations

At the end of March, just before the clocks changed and the evenings started to stretch a little longer, I had the pleasure of photographing and filming Hannah and Ollie’s incredible wedding at the beautiful Holmewood Hall in Cambridgeshire.

From start to finish, it was a day packed with energy, emotion, laughter and so many carefully thought-out details. Hannah had clearly poured her heart into planning a celebration full of surprises and personality, and it all came together perfectly.

The day began with morning preparations, capturing Hannah getting ready alongside her bridesmaids. There’s always something special about this part of the day β€” the anticipation, the excitement, and the little in-between moments that make up the story.

We captured beautiful moments of Hannah opening cards and gifts, along with emotional reactions and plenty of laughter. One of my favourite parts of the morning was documenting her first look at her bouquet, beautifully arranged by Bluebell Lane Flowers. The reaction said it all β€” pure excitement and joy.

I also spent time with Ollie and the groomsmen, capturing the calm before the celebrations began. Telling both sides of the story helps build the full picture of the day, and it’s always great to see both bridal and groom preparations unfold.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in Holmewood Hall’s stunning Gold Room, with its beautiful gilded aisle and elegant surroundings creating a truly memorable setting.

Hannah and Ollie exchanged deeply personal vows, which added such an emotional and heartfelt layer to the ceremony, which I could later use to overlay on their Highlight Film.

A special mention must go to Ronnie, the bride’s best friend’s father, who stepped into the role of toastmaster for the day. He did an incredible job of keeping everything running smoothly and ensuring the timeline stayed on track, allowing Hannah and Ollie to relax and fully enjoy their wedding day with their guests. His warm personality and attention to detail made a real difference throughout the celebrations.

Confetti, Surprises & Celebrations

If there was one thing this wedding wasn’t short of, it was celebration.

There was confetti… then more confetti… then confetti again. We had confetti down the aisle, confetti after the ceremony, confetti outside, and even confetti later in the evening. Add in sparklers, emotional moments, and a packed dance floor, and you’ve got a pretty unforgettable atmosphere.

One of the standout moments of the day was the surprise saxophonist. He had been carefully planned into the day as a “guest” and only revealed himself at the perfect moment as Hannah and Ollie made their exit dip. The reaction was brilliant and instantly lifted the energy into full celebration mode.

Couple Portraits

Despite a very full and fast-paced schedule, we managed to carve out a short window for couple portraits around the grounds.

Holmewood Hall offers so many beautiful backdrops, and we made the most of the gardens, including the charming gazebo nestled within the grounds. Even with limited time, some of my favourite portraits came from this part of the day β€” natural, relaxed, and full of connection between Hannah and Ollie.

Having already met up for their pre-wedding shoot before the big day, Hannah and Ollie were completely at ease in front of the camera. It meant we could make the most of the time we had together, allowing them to relax, enjoy the moment, and focus on each other rather than worrying about being photographed. Their familiarity with the process really showed throughout the day, resulting in natural, genuine moments. You can also watch a behind-the-scenes reel from their pre-wedding shoot here.

It’s always a great reminder that you don’t need hours away from your guests to create something beautiful.

As a Cambridge wedding photographer, Holmewood Hall is always a dream venue to photograph thanks to its elegant interiors, beautiful gardens and stunning architecture. Combined with a couple who were happy to trust the process and enjoy the moment, it made for some truly beautiful portraits.

Evening Moments

As the celebrations continued, Hannah and Ollie made their grand entrance into the wedding breakfast room to an incredible reception from their guests. Everyone was on their feet, waving their napkins in the air, dancing, cheering and creating an amazing atmosphere as the newlyweds entered the room. It was one of those moments where you could really feel the excitement and love in the room.

Guests then enjoyed dinner before settling in for the speeches. There was plenty of laughter throughout the afternoon, including a particularly hilarious speech from Hannah’s father that had the room in stitches.

As day turned into night, the celebrations showed no signs of slowing down. Hannah and Ollie shared their first dance beneath the stunning staircase at Holmewood Hall, complete with yet another confetti moment to add to the day’s long list of celebrations.

The dance floor was then handed over to The Arcades, who kept the party going with an incredible live performance. Hannah had chosen a playlist packed with old-school classics and dance floor favourites, ensuring guests of all ages were up dancing and singing along. The energy was infectious, and the celebrations continued long into the evening.

Capturing Both Photo & Film

One of the things I particularly enjoyed about this wedding was capturing both photography and a highlight film. Being able to document a wedding in both formats allows me to tell the story in different ways, preserving not only how the day looked but how it felt.

For Hannah and Ollie’s highlight film, I incorporated excerpts from their personal vows alongside moments from the speeches, helping to create a film that felt incredibly personal and meaningful to them.

More and more couples are choosing hybrid photo and video coverage, allowing them to relive both the still moments and the sounds and emotions from their wedding day.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Holmewood Hall

What I loved most about Hannah and Ollie’s wedding was how much fun it was from beginning to end. It was full of laughter, emotion, and personality, with so many thoughtful touches woven throughout the day.

From the surprise saxophonist and endless confetti to the heartfelt vows and packed dance floor, every part of the day reflected them perfectly.

As a couple who are completely travel mad, Hannah and Ollie headed off to the Maldives shortly after their wedding. One of my favourite parts of delivering their gallery was sending over a sneak peek highlight slideshow for them to enjoy while on honeymoon. Knowing they were able to relive some of their favourite moments together from thousands of miles away made it all the more special.

Hannah and Ollie created a wedding day that was completely their own, and it was a genuine joy to be part of it.

Thank you both for putting your trust in me to capture your special day – I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
